Okay, the whole Shawn Michaels vs the McMahon family is getting plain old. Sometimes entertaining, but nevertheless…old. The Wrestlemania match between Vince and HBK should have been the finale to a drawn out affair that even then seemed a tad played out. If Stonecold were still kicking around would he too be still be feuding with the old man?

Fortunately for us all a man named Umaga appeared on the scene tonight and saved a decent Raw card with another captivating performance. While continuing to display an air of invincibility not scene since perhaps the Goldberg era, the Samoan nonetheless took a good share of lumps (as he should) at the hands of the “Showstopper.  After the McMahon’s showed up-turning the tide of the match of course - Umaga began to unleash his arsenal of impressive offence. A teeth-rattling foot to the face sounded like a drunken belly flop into the neighbors pool. After a brief give-and-take, Umaga then delivered his version of the usually sedate Samoan Drop: After catching the speeding Michaels off the ropes, Umaga flipped HBK behind his back, caught him in one smooth motion then completed the move with devastating authority.

After a brief comeback by Michaels saw Armando Alejandro Estrada on the receiving end of a pretty good bump, Umaga cemented his accent into The troublemaker’s top five current stars list. Noticing the state the colorful Estrada was in, the Samoan bulldozer preceded to go, dare I say, a cross between Abdullah and Bruiser Brody. Ripping through the announcers table and any other object in his path, Jim Ross threatened to phone the cops if order wasn’t restored. The match closed out with a devastating spike after a predictable scrum involving the you-know-who’s, but who cares? The undefeated Umaga is a one man reason to watch Raw every week. By the way, next week is Triple H’s turn to put the big guy over.

Other notables

  • For the first time in a long time John Cena was on the receiving end of a huge pop from a pretty packed house. As a imark I gotta admit I like it.
  • Again another Triple Threat title match reared its ugly head, as the IC belt was up for grabs between Nitro, Benjamin and Carlito. Yawn… I literally fell asleep for about 10 minutes and thankfully was spared the boredom. Nitro did retain the title for anyone who cares.
  • The saga going down between Mick Foley and Ric Flair seems surreal at times. Maybe I’m just marking out and don’t realize it, but how much of this is an act?

Ask And You Shall Receive

  • After pining a few times on this site for some in-ring action from Jerry Lawler, the wrestling gods have responded by granting us the overrated Randy Orton, one-on-one with “the King.â€? Yeah I know what’s gonna happen but who cares? It can’t be any shorter than Lawler’s bout with Taz.
