Well, here’s another for all you old-school wrestling fans out there: WWE Hall-of-Famer Sherri Martel has reportedly passed away at the age of 49. Real name, Sherri Schrull, Martel made a name for herself in both the AWA and later the WWF as both a skilled in-ring performer (where she was frequently the champ) and manager of such stars as Randy “Macho Man” Savage and Shawn Michaels. No cause of death has yet been announced. Martel set the standard for many so-called “Divas” and “Knockouts” to come, both in terms of psychology and in-ring ability. She deserved to be in the Hall 0f Fame (unlike some other inductees). The world of professional wrestling is lesser today because of her death.
