Austin 3:16 says Hulk Hogan match would “stink joint out”

WrestlersRamblings.com SCOOPThe Howard Stern Show on Sirius Satellite Radio featured a veritable slobberknockerful of professional wrestling news this morning, not the least of which was Stone Cold Steve Austin revealing that a match-up between he and Hulk Hogan will likely never happen given that it would most-probably, “stink the joint out.â€? While admitting that the match would be a huge money-maker (including a prompting from show staffer Artie Lange that even he would pay to see it) Austin added he feels his aggressive style wouldn’t mesh well with Hogan’s – leaving fans with a snoozer of a slugfest, comparing the two legends’ styles to “oil and water.”

In other wrestling-related talk, Austin touched on his past problems with Vince McMahon – including his refusal to, “look up at the lights or do a job on RAW (reported to be an up-and-coming Brock Lesner a few years back) that eventually led to his leaving the company. Stern said it was wrong of McMahon to then not allow Austin to use the “Stone Cold moniker while estranged from the company although, to his credit, Austin later said that it was McMahon who initiated the reunion by repeatedly calling Austin at home. Eventually, however, it would long-time Austin friend Jim Ross who ultimately mended the fences between the parties. From there, it was Austin who brought the script that would become his current flick, “The Condemned to McMahon himself. The WWE agreed to finance the flick provided Austin was switched to his eventual role of the anti-hero in the flick, as opposed to the villain for which he was initially pegged.

Of note, Austin also went out of his way to put-over TNA - saying he hopes they get even bigger than they are, given that competition is good for the business — and the fans. Another league also gives a lot more performers a chance to earn a living in professional wrestling, he added.

Stern was loose and easy for the interview with Austin – a repeat guest who has appeared many times in the past – and continually kidded Austin about this three failed marriages (including one to former WWE diva Debra). Austin countered by pointing out Stern himself was about to enter into marriage #2 – which seemed to stem Stern’s attack. Stern added that he had seen “The Condemned” and liked it a lot.  “It’s good - it’s really good. But you have to like action, though.”
