Hey all, Jack back again with another Top Five list. To stop the inevitable arguments about the finishing maneuvers that I have left out, I’ve decided to only count moves that are used regularly and by wrestlers who are still in the WWE at this very minute. So what makes a finishing move better than somebody else’s? Can a champion become a great champion without a distinct finishing move? Get comfortable and all will be made clear . . .

TOP FIVE BEST WWE FINISHING MOVES

5. Randy Orton – RKO - When figuring out what order to put these moves into my top 5 I had to take into consideration a number of factors, the originality, how well it’s performed and of course the effectiveness. Although Randy scores high on his effectiveness the move is a modified “cutter which has been used more famously by Diamond Dallas Page. The main reason why Orton gets into my list is because whilst using the move he became the youngest World Champion in the history of the Company. The move which takes little or no setting up can be hit at any time, meaning that Orton’s competition have to be constantly prepared.

Batista – The Batista Bomb - There’s no doubt that Batista has been a fantastic performer for the WWE and even when the crown was against him, he’s proven his ability. His version of the Powerbomb, the sitout Powerbomb has proven to be very effective in winning him the gold on numerous occasions. With pure strength being Batista’s only form of attack it’s crucial to have a dominant finisher that as soon as he hits it, the crowd no that the match is over.
Expect to see The Animal utilize his finisher to full effect through 2007 as I back him to retain the gold.

3. Edge/Bobby Lashley – The Spear - A move that is famous in all forms of professional wrestling, possibly made famous by Paul Heyman shouting GORE GORE GORE!! whenever now-TNA star Rhino would hit his high impact spear. The move is simple but effective, two keys characteristics that make a good finishing move. Edge and Lashley have both used their moves in winning the WWE championship and the ECW title respectively. The one time that using the spear stands out the most is last year when Edge faced Mick Foley at Wrestlemania 22, the most memorable moment of the night happened as Edge speared Foley through a flaming table!!

2. HBK – Sweet Chin Music - The showstopper’s finisher comes in at number two and over his career Shawn has used it to win Royal Rumbles and WWE Heavyweight gold. Already this year he has won the match of the year against Cena by reversing the FU into the Sweet Chin Music and finds himself well in the frame to win the Gold in the near future.

WWE TNA British wrestling news photos blog Undertaker Wrestlemania 231. The Undertaker - Tombstone - The best move in the whole damn business without a shadow of a doubt, the tombstone piledriver. Its official that Takers’ move outclasses every other competitors finisher, very rarely has anybody even looked like kicking out of the tombstone. The move gets a huge pop from the crowd as Taker eyes his victim and signals by moving his thumb across his throat, and after the pinfall with his possessed face. His decade and a half of destruction has recently seen him use it to win the heavyweight title at Wrestlemania 23 in Detroit.

Kennedy, Undertaker injuries causing WWE shuffle

This week couldn’t of started any better for me, my favourite “soccer” team Manchester United, became the Premiership Champions. The next day it got even better because the best Raw of 2007 took place in Penn State University, with three huge matches set up: HBK vs The Great Khali; Orton vs Cena and the third, a surprise match for me . . . Mr. Kennedy vs. Edge for the Money in the Bank briefcase. This is when my week took a turn for the worse, I am a huge fan of both Kennedy and Edge but I didn’t expect The rated R superstar to beat Mr. Kennedy! With this in mind, it leads me to this weeks topic for the column: The Curse of Friday Night Smackdown!

WWE Smackdown Wrestlemania 23 Mr. Kennedy Money in th Bank

With injuries in the WWE as frequent as hot meals just recently, I along with every other fan must be wondering how unlucky can the company be? It’s not very often that VKM and the writers have a plan set up for the whole year, but when they finally do, it’s up in the air only a month after Wrestlemania 23. With long title reigns planned for Cena and Undertaker, and Kennedy in line for a main event push, all three aspects now look under threat. There’s no doubt that Taker will be missed hugely by Smackdown who only has a few main eventer’s on the roster as it is, but as for Mr. Kennedy it could have been a monumental loss in my opinion, luckily it looks like he will be back in action in around 6 weeks time, which could coincide with the return to the ring of King Booker.

WWE former World Champion Smackdown BatistaReports stated that Mr. Kennedy was pondering a retirement from wrestling altogether after feeling so low about his injury. I hope that Kennedy comes back stronger than ever and with acknowledgments from Stone Cold Steve Austin about his mic skills. If the WWE were wondering whether or not KK could become an eventual face character all he needs to do is look at any wrestling forum to see that his injury scare was just as big as Taker’s! The list of injuries on the Smackdown roster continues to pile up and this can only mean one thing, a roster change. Now we all know about Edge moving over to Smackdown to fill the main event void, and they couldn’t of chosen a better person for it. Seeing his feud with Cena last year proved the doubters wrong and has cemented his position as the No1 heel in the company. The Main event wrestlers on Smackdown now consist of 3 main men: Edge, Batista and Mark Henry, this leads me to believe that one other wrestler from Raw may be moved over to Smackdown to help out or even to insert Chris Benoit back into the title picture as soon as possible.

One thing is for sure though, even with the injury problems the WWE have put on some shows of the highest quality in recent weeks and have created some brilliant storyline angles. As for those injured superstars, were looking forward to your returns and hope for a quick recovery.

TNA Lockdown sees a few stars shine to first-time viewer

Wrestlers Ramblings.com wrestling news

Nearly a month on from Wrestlemania 23 and the hangover is upon us, every year after the show is over and the sun has set on another Mania, the WWE fans find themselves a little depressed with the house shows. With that being said, TNA fans had a big pay per view to look forward to, the second time an event has been held out of Orlando, Florida. As trying to find TNA on British television is like trying to find a sober Irishman on St Patrick’s Day, it took a little channel hopping recently and staying up till the early hours to watch TNA Lockdown.

With TNA’s fan base in the UK being smaller than Ron Simmons’ vocabulary it’s understandable that it’s hard to find on television, but with an increasing fan base and increasing roster, are they really going to be able to rival the WWE the same way WCW did? It’s going to be an uphill struggle for them and it isn’t going to happen over night but things are going in the right direction. I’m not the biggest fan of TNA but I decided to stay up and see what all the fuss was about. On first look at the line up, only one match looked appetising, the main event: Team Angle vs. Team Cage. Both teams lead by former WWE superstars, the only two former WWE guys who are actually worth watching in my opinion. After watching TNA Lockdown I picked some of the best TNA stars who hadn’t been with the WWE before, who I believe have great futures:

Chris Sabin – At TNA Lockdown he retained his X-division championship. This guy has been with TNA since 2003 and has got better and better each year, he’s one of the best heel characters on their roster. He put in a fantastic performance to beat four other wrestlers in a six sides of steel Xscape match. I hope that TNA don’t waste this guy and give him a push towards main event status soon.

Sting - Probably the most famous TNA star that has never wrestled in the WWE, although he’s no spring chicken anymore and his best days may well be behind him, he still knows how to work a crowd and is a true professional in the ring . . . no matter what shape it is. It was Sting who picked up the win at TNA Lockdown after Jeff Jarrett’s guitar shot to Abyss’ head.

Samoa Joe - He held an 18-month unbeaten streak, even though he lost triple threat matches and a battle royal match! But still had an unbeaten streak, looks like their taking tips from the WWE with lying to create a gimmick but anyway, After losing his unbeaten streak and suffering loses to Angle he had a quality performance at TNA Lockdown and looks well in the frame for a NWA title shot. Hmm . . . if only the WWE could get a big Samoan guy who held an unbeaten streak and jump on the bandwagon?!
