Cena-Edge’s RAW blowoff? Plus, WWE-JBL work deal

The whole DX reunion might seem like a cute diversion before the next HHH title reign, but I’ll say right here in this very post: I don’t like it. Any time the WWE dredges up a past gimmick I can’t help but question the creativity of the promotion’s writing team. Are you trying to tell me with that talent pool, it’s necessary to step back in time when the future is sure to see HHH back in his customary role as the heel to whoever is the company’s top face? Then again, this is the same brain trust who continues to sanction the owners in main event cage matches. Sheesh . . . Let’s all hope and pray that when Kane drops his loser leaves Raw match to Umaga that the Big Red Machine doesn’t wind up in ECW. A Kane vs. Big Show feud just might sound the death knell for the much-maligned spin-off . . .

Speaking of the Show, apparently the big fella has been pulled off the road along with Bob Holly to heal up from some nagging injuries . . . This weeks Smackdown! is supposed to contain a spot by Kennedy where the soon-to-be top heel calls out the Undertaker in spectacular fashion. Rumor has it that the vignette alone is worth tuning in this week . . . To anyone in the Windsor area, you’ll be happy to know that during my interview last week with Jimmy Hart, “The Mouth of the South mentioned that he would love to throw a card together at former BCW stomping grounds, the Ciociaro Club . . . Rumors of an NWO return will likely prove to be just that. As Eric Bischoff returns to plug his tell-all book, the WWE is merely throwing the idiotic one a bone . . .  Staying on the rumor mill, it looks like JBL was just joshin’ y’all when he threatened to pack it in recently. In negotiating a new deal, Bradshaw looks to have attained the status reserved for semi-retired stars Mick Foley and Hulk Hogan. As part of his new agreement, JBL will now have access to the company jet to travel back to New York after Smackdown! tapings in addition to the option of choice matches on the PPV circuit. Not a bad gig . . .

The recent main event cage match on RAW between John Cena and Edge was nothing short of a barn burner. Hopefully - but I have my doubts – it will signify the end of this hum - drum feud. I’m just not diggin’ Edge of late, and as long as Lita continues to morph into a goblin, even her presence is little more than an annoyance . . . Is it just me or does this Murdoch guy look like a keeper? . . .
