Eagle’s Catch or Release: Wrestling Week in Review
Welcome to The Eagle’s first installment of Catch or Release, a rating of the week that was in the world of pro wrestling, divided up into two categories: Catch being good and Release meaning it needs to go. Simple right? Let’s begin. Feel free to offer up your comments! The Eagle has thick skin — not to mention a feathery but tough exterior. You won’t hurt The Eagle’s feelings. Of course, Eagle’s also have talons that could claw your eyes out, but that’s another story . . .
CATCH - CM Punk winning the 15 minutes of fame with current ECW Champion, John Morrison, the former Johnny Nitro. I can’t wait to see these two face off again. This has to be the second-best feud in wrestling right now
RELEASE - Pacman Jones joining TNA. I still say this is a big mistake. Now, that the Titans are fighting this contract his wrestling career is in jeopardy and this Eagle couldn’t be happier about it.
CATCH - Mr. McMahon rises from the dead. Love him or hate him he’s good for wrestling. His return has already stirred some trouble on RAWand I’m sure there’s more to come.
RELEASE - TNA using Kurt Angle’s family for a storyline. With all that has happened you would think TNA would know better. I don’t mind adding the wives to the mix like Queen Sharmel on Smackdown, but when you add abuse and divorce, it’s just asking for trouble.
CATCH - The Tag Team Dream match in TNA. Personally I can’t wait to see the Steiners face off against Team 3D. Too bad this couldn’t have occurred during their prime.
RELEASE - Mr. Kennedy’s promo on RAW. Yes, I had to add this. He is so talented in the ring and on the mic. Why the heck have him come out and scream his name over and over again?
CATCH - Return of Dustin Rhodes, this time with Total Non-Stop Action. I am looking forward to seeing his new gimmick. He has the ability to make strange characters work.
Now, for the absolute Best Catch and Quickest Release of the week, the ultimate in either category:
BEST CATCH - Matt Hardy and MVP feud. This is the best feud going on right now and it gets better every week. This week an arm wrestling contest and now a boxing match. These two men know how to take each other to the limit. I see Hardy holding the gold before this is over.
QUICKEST RELEASE - WWE putting the congressional inquiries into a storyline. I think this will back fire on WWE especially if Congress has it way and digs some dirt up. I have never agreed with taken a serious real life situation and adding it to a storyline.
