ECW review: Boogeyman, Monster Battle Royal highlights
It’s the night before Halloween and all the monsters have come out — not to steal your candy but to tear each other apart. This is your Halloween ECW review — I’m The Eagle. Put the candy away and lets get down to business. The night started off with Jimmy Wang Yang taken on Elijah Burke. This one of the good matches that has come out of the merger. I hope this means that Burke will be getting involved more. Jimmy Wang is definitely a better opponent than Nunzio.
Speaking of Nunzio….. he took the kids around trick or treating through the arena. They went to see Balls Mahoney, then C.M. Punk, and then the most scariest of them all…. The Boogey Man. He scared those kids out of their minds with his bed time story. Then he gave them worms for a treat. After Nunzio ran from the Boogey Man he had to face Tommy Dreamer (pictured, left) in a extreme rules match. In one of the most humorous moments in ECW history…. Dreamer came out dressed up as Paul Heyman. He walked just like him. If you didn’t catch it live….. watch it on wwe.com. Dreamer looked real aggressive in this match… like the old Dreamer who feuded with Raven and Sandman. Man, The Eagle misses those days. (sighs)
In a number one contenders match John Morrison took on The Miz. Once again I ask the question… what the hell is Miz doing in the title contention? What has he done lately and who has he beat? I am not saying that one day he cant be built up to become a champ… maybe a IC or cruiserweight champ… but not the ECW champion. Morrison is impressive in the ring… and deserves to be in the title contention. Luckily Morrison pulled off the victory and now we will have a match for the ECW title next week. Yes on free TV you will Morrison take on Punk for the title. I am assuming that Punk will win next week setting up a match at Survivor Series between these two . . . After his victory over the Miz, Morrison stuck around to watch the ECW champ take on James Curtis. Why is the champ taken on a jobber? C.M. Punk made quick work of James Curtis but paid the price with an attack from John Morrison. Who didn’t see that coming a mile away?
What would Halloween be without a Monster Bash Battle Royal? Big Daddy V, Kane, The Great Khali, and Mark Henry all met in the middle of the ring to prove who is the biggest man of the WWE. All three heels begun to gain up on Kane… until Henry and Big V got into it. in the end Henry and Kane were the only ones left …. And Kane actually picked up the worlds strongest man and almost lifted him over the top rope. But things turned when Kane went for a high move and got caught by Henry and thrown over.

It was an average show with some humorous segments. Tommy Dreamer coming out as Paul Heyman was the highlight of the night. I still don’t understand why Punk took on a jobber…. There has to be someone else. What about Punk vs Dreamer? If your going to put the champ on TV.. make it worth it. The monster battle royal was boring accept for a few spots. Just an average but not horrible show says The Eagle.
