ECW Review: The New Sensation; Chavo’s Fiesta

The New Sensation: The Road to WrestleMania takes an Extreme turn

This is the first edition of The New Sensation, naturally narrated by yours truly the Sensational1. Firstly and fore mostly, I’d like to thank the website, and the Eagle in particular for the leap of faith they’re taking with me. Lucky for me Eagles are famous for their leaps of faith. So, this is the ECW review, but with a sensational twist. Let’s waste no time fasten your seatbelts, and hold on to your socks because we’re headed into the land of extremes!
The week before the rumble Shelton Benjamin won the over the top challenge by outmaneuvering Kane, an offense that the big red machine wouldn’t leave unpunished. So, tonight they squared off one on one, unfortunately just when Kane was heating up the gold standard turned yellow and bolted. Kane picks up the victory by count out, but hasn’t settled the score…..In the women’s division Kelly Kelly was pinned against Victoria, with the envious Lena Yada and Layla at ringside. Victoria got the win, but that wasn’t enough for Layla and Lena, as they continued to punish Kelly Kelly for their loss last week…..For five straight weeks Colin Delaney has been just about pulverized by ECW and Smackdown superstars, week 6 wasn’t any different for the bandaged punching bag when he took on the Miz & John Morrison. The WWE Tag Champs toyed with Delaney for a while before pinning him. That wasn’t enough however, after the match (if you could call it that) the two intended to pick Delaney’s bones, thankfully Tommy Dreamer had seen enough and rushed to Delaney’s aid.

You could say CM Punk’s had a hard week after losing the ECW Title to, and being tossed out of the rumble by Chavo Guerrero, but tonight he had to put that aside and focus on Elijah Burke. They had a pretty evenly matched contest but in the end Punk put Elijah to sleep with the GTS…..Just a side note: Maybe it’s just me, but as I watched The Rumble I was completely perplexed when Chavo was named as a participant. I understand they’re trying to build a feud, but it didn’t make sense to have a champion participate in a match were the winner can choose what title they want to pursue, including the ECW Title…..Moving on to Kofi Kingston who continued his winning streak tonight against a local talent. It was a quick match, just long enough for Kingston to show off his athletic abilities.

Now it was time for Chavo’s fiesta celebration. Which he held complete with balloons and a live mariachi band. Although neither Vickie or Edge could be there thanks to Rey’s 619 on Vickie during his rumble match, Edge was present via video message. The Rated R Superstar sent Chavo all of his and Vickie’s love and support. We were then treated to clips of Chavo’s career. Chavo thanked his newly formed familia, and then addressed the audience saying “I told you so!” then striking up the band for the big climax. But, you know you just can’t find good help these days, as one of the mariachi turned out to be Punk, who proceeded to clobber Chavo with his guitar. Talk about the sound of music!
