ECW Review:Champ vs Champ, returning superstar
The Land of Extreme invaded New York this week. What a solid hour it was. So, grab a chilled beverage and The Eagle will tell you how it all went down…..The night started off with the WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison and The Miz taking on Shannon Moore and Jimmy Wang Yang. This was a great match. So, much action and offense from both sides. Yang and Moore proved to be too much for the tag champs. The victory earned Yang and Moore a shot at the gold. WWE is teasing a possible break up of Miz and Morrison. The Eagle doesn’t like this. Morrison can do good as a singles wrestler but Miz needed this to help his career. But they what do I know ….. I’m just an Eagle.….Shelton Benjamin took on a local in what he called the “Gold Standard” contest. This local was no match for Benjamin… a skinny, nervous, and inexperienced youngster. The Eagle is 
diggin the Shelton Benjamin push to an extent. It would be better and more legit if he had more of a challenge every week. I would love to see a Benjamin vs Elijah Burke match.….Nunzio was in the Christmas spirit this week when he took on Kenny Dykstra. He came to the ring dressed as an elf. His spirits didn’t stay up long as he was dominated by Dykstra. The Eagle asked once again what happened to the “best up and coming star” Kenny Dykstra? This is sad to admit… he did better being part of the Spirit Squad. Even after that his feud with Ric Flair produced some good matches. If WWE is punishing him for the steroid scandal…. Well that’s not fair. Mr. Kennedy and a few other ones are back on main event status. Don’t get me wrong…. I am not a fan of Kenny but he is talented and can produce some decent matches when he is allowed….The main event was United States Champion MVP vs ECW Champion CM Punk. Now this is the kind of match The Eagle was hoping the “talent exchange” would produce. Like them or not… MVP and CM Punk are the future of the business and rightfully so. 
They give 100% every time they are in the ring. There were some good old fashion mat wrestling at the beginning of the match then the champs showed off their talent. United States Champion MVP got himself the DQ when he refused to let up off Punk when he was in the corner. He continued his assault sending a message to the ECW Champion. After MVP left the ring the returning Chavo Guerrero sneaked attacked Punk. I guess this means ECW finally found someone to chase ECW Champion CM Punk. This is not a bad idea… Chavo is a former champion and can put on decent matches when giving the chance.

It was an above average show. What made this show worth it was the tag match and the champion vs champion main event. Both these matches were solid and kept you wondering how it was going to end.
Catch and Release matches
Catch….. WWE Tag Team Champions John Morrison and The Miz vs Shannon Moore and Jimmy Wang Yang. This match was just solid. Both teams are very talented.
Release… Shelton Benjamin vs a local. Wrestling a nobody isn’t doing anything for Benjamin. This is the same man who beat Triple H when he was at the top… not once but twice. I am all for him getting a push solely cause of his athletic ability but put him in matches that mean something.
