Kennedy, Undertaker injuries causing WWE shuffle

This week couldn’t of started any better for me, my favourite “soccer” team Manchester United, became the Premiership Champions. The next day it got even better because the best Raw of 2007 took place in Penn State University, with three huge matches set up: HBK vs The Great Khali; Orton vs Cena and the third, a surprise match for me . . . Mr. Kennedy vs. Edge for the Money in the Bank briefcase. This is when my week took a turn for the worse, I am a huge fan of both Kennedy and Edge but I didn’t expect The rated R superstar to beat Mr. Kennedy! With this in mind, it leads me to this weeks topic for the column: The Curse of Friday Night Smackdown!
With injuries in the WWE as frequent as hot meals just recently, I along with every other fan must be wondering how unlucky can the company be? It’s not very often that VKM and the writers have a plan set up for the whole year, but when they finally do, it’s up in the air only a month after Wrestlemania 23. With long title reigns planned for Cena and Undertaker, and Kennedy in line for a main event push, all three aspects now look under threat. There’s no doubt that Taker will be missed hugely by Smackdown who only has a few main eventer’s on the roster as it is, but as for Mr. Kennedy it could have been a monumental loss in my opinion, luckily it looks like he will be back in action in around 6 weeks time, which could coincide with the return to the ring of King Booker.
Reports stated that Mr. Kennedy was pondering a retirement from wrestling altogether after feeling so low about his injury. I hope that Kennedy comes back stronger than ever and with acknowledgments from Stone Cold Steve Austin about his mic skills. If the WWE were wondering whether or not KK could become an eventual face character all he needs to do is look at any wrestling forum to see that his injury scare was just as big as Taker’s! The list of injuries on the Smackdown roster continues to pile up and this can only mean one thing, a roster change. Now we all know about Edge moving over to Smackdown to fill the main event void, and they couldn’t of chosen a better person for it. Seeing his feud with Cena last year proved the doubters wrong and has cemented his position as the No1 heel in the company. The Main event wrestlers on Smackdown now consist of 3 main men: Edge, Batista and Mark Henry, this leads me to believe that one other wrestler from Raw may be moved over to Smackdown to help out or even to insert Chris Benoit back into the title picture as soon as possible.
One thing is for sure though, even with the injury problems the WWE have put on some shows of the highest quality in recent weeks and have created some brilliant storyline angles. As for those injured superstars, were looking forward to your returns and hope for a quick recovery.
