Pro wrestling week in review: TNA’s Joe deserves push
Welcome to The Eagle’s weekly column we lovingly refer to as Catch or Release, a rating of the week that was in the world of pro wrestling, divided up into two categories: Catch being good and Release meaning it needs to go. Simple right? Let’s begin. Feel free to offer up your comments! The Eagle has thick skin — not to mention a feathery but tough exterior. You won’t hurt The Eagle’s feelings. Of course, Eagle’s also have talons that could claw your eyes out, but that’s another story . . .
CATCH - McMahon Family Feud. When this family fights things get interesting. (Mr. Mal - True enough, but I wish they would leave Linda McMahon completely out of the equation. She makes Tor Johnson look like Robert DeNiro).
RELEASE -Â Mr.McMahon overshadowing the PPV pushes. The biggest party of the summer is approaching and WWE needs to push the PPV more than McMahon.
CATCH - Matt Hardy/MVP feud. I said they would probably make it back on the list. This is the best feud in WWE right now. These two work so well together and cut great promos.
RELEASE - The Tag Team Division in the WWE. You have tag champs on each brand who are doing nothing . WWE’s singles division is becoming solid now. Its time to bring in some tag teams.
CATCH - TNA Wrestling making Kurt Angle defend ALL the titles at No Surrender PPV. I don’t agree with him having them all but I am happy with the way they are setting up his title defenses.
RELEASE - TNA Wrestling not giving Samoa Joe the push he deserves. This man had the longest undefeated streak in company history and is extremely talented. He has yet to hold the TNA World Championship and that’s just wrong.
CATCH - Jay Lethal back in the title contention. I love his gimmick and he is a talented wrestler. He deserves a decent title run. (Mr. Mal - Oh, yeaaaaahhh! I can dig that, yep! I can! Mr. Mal loves the Randy Savage tribute!!)
RELEASE - Kenny Dykstra’s new gimmick. What is WWE doing? He is semi talented and can be used but instead they are wasting him on some “dumb boyfriendâ€? gimmick.Â
Â
Now, for the absolute Best Catch and Quickest Release of the week, the ultimate in either category:
CATCH - Randy Orton’s new push. Love him or hate him he is talented and playing his character well. I don’t agree with things he has done outside the ring but I cannot deny his talent.
RELEASE - TNA acquisition of Pacman Jones. This move will not help TNA’s ratings. People will tune in the first week but after that they will lose interest. To make matters worse the cost of Pacman Jones has forced TNA to release five of their talents this week. The Eagle says Mr. Jones isn’t worth all of this.Â
