Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane!! It’s Superman!?! No, folks. It is just The Eagle, back again, with your weekly WWE RAW review. Lets get down to business. Love him or hate him, Randy Orton is doing a hell of a job lately. His character is intense and he can get the job done in the ring. I don’t agree with his past actions out of the ring. Hopefully he can take advantage of the situation and it motivates him to do the right things. His mouth did get in trouble with Britain’s own William Regal. Orton said he needed a warm up to the upcoming WWE Cyber Sunday PPV so that’s what he got. Regal announced that he would face all three of his potential opponents in one on one action. He faced Jeff Hardy first. This was a good match. It did have a lot of head locks but towards the end the momentum picked up. Hardy gave the WWE champ a run for his money and came close pulling off an upset before Ken Kennedy interfered distracting the IC champ.

Santino Marella continues his ripping of Stone Cold Steve Austin this week. I am not sure where this is going. I know they are pushing his movie but besides being named as a possible referee at Cyber Sunday The Rattlesnake isn’t involved in anything else. Val Venus came to the ring to take on the arrogant Italian but Marella made quick work of him . . . The Hornswoggle saga continues this week. Coach chased him all over the arena. When they finally made it to the ring Hornswoggle went under the ring that’s when things got out of hand. Coach got out the TNT and attempted to blow up the little McMahon but it wouldn’t work. When he went to check it Hornswoggle came out and of course it worked for him. Jerry Lawyer said it best …. “All that is missing is the Acme signs”.

Now its time for Kennedy shot at the WWE champ. I watched this twice to make sure I had the crowds reaction correct. For anyone that didn’t see it …. The crowd was dead. I have never seen a crowd so uninterested in a match. Surprisingly WWE didn’t add in their fake cheers for the taping. This was not the match that I would expect from these two. Normally I would look forward to these two going at it but its not the right time. Jeff Hardy came down and laid out both competitors which ended the contest in a DQ. I seriously think they sent Hardy down cause the crowd was about to leave. The only good thing is that it sets up a decent feud between Kennedy and Hardy and a possible match at Cyber Sunday. No one really thinks that Shawn Michaels won’t get the title shot, do they?

Vince McMahon has lost his mind again. He took a local wrestler and made did a demonstration of the Umaga/Triple H match at Cyber Sunday. He faced Umaga in a street fight, a first blood match, and then finally a cage match. I have to give Andy Simmons credit for taking the beating. McMahon even called him Triple H during the matches . . . They are building up a Jillian Hall/Lillian Garcia feud. Rumor has it that it will end with “American Idol” showdown at a PPV, possibly Cyber Sunday. Candice Michelle saved us all from Hall’s singing and made quick work of the diva . . . The tag team division continues to get a push. (The Eagle breathes a sign of relief and says “finally”) Rory McAllister took on Brian Kendrick with the tag champs Lance Cade and Trevor Murdock at ringside. Rory dominated Kendrick most of the match but it took Robbie distracting Kendrick for him to get the pin fall. After the match there was a stare down between the tag champs and the HighLanders.

The Hardcore Holly/Cody Rhodes feud is becoming one of my favorites. Cody is improving every week and looked more comfortable in his 3rd match against Holly. Rhodes may have lost the match but the nod from Holly afterwards show he is close to earning his respect . . . Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton closed the show. Before this match started I looked at the clock and I knew it was going to be a quick one. Sure enough Kennedy interfered and then Hardy came back for revenge. It wasn’t the best performance of these two men but Michaels kept his word and laid out the WWE champ. The evil grin by the Heartbreak Kid was a nice touch to the ending.

WWE RAW results for Oct 15/2007
Randy Orton def. Jeff Hardy
Santino Marella def. Val Venis
Ken Kennedy def. Randy Orton
Candice def. Jillian Hall
Hardcore Holly def. Cody Rhodes
Shawn Michaels def. Randy Orton

The Eagles Grade B-

Almost a decent show. There was a lot of action but the quality of the matches was lacking. Having Orton face all three of his possible opponents was a great touch. The Hornswoggle stuff has got to end. It’s not funny anymore.
