Word going around these days says the Big Show — now going by his real name of Paul Wight — is looking to leave the squared circle of wrestling behind him in the hopes of (gulp) entering the world of professional boxing. Reports have the big man, last seen in a wrestling ring during the poorly-attended Memphis show against Hulk Hogan, now tipping the scales around 440 lbs. or so. Further, Wight is telling everyone who will listen that his wrestling days — at least for now — are behind him. Talk about a heavyweight!

Former Big Show will be big flop at boxing, says Mal

WWE TNA British pro wrestling news, photos Muhammed AliMr. Mal remains skeptical on any crossover success for Wight, however: boxing takes serious skill that, unless Wight has previously-trained, or, is some sort of natural, simply will not possess. Size matters, yes, but Mr. Mal will still take the man with more actual in-ring boxing skill. There’s a reason it is called the “sweet science.” It’s because there is a definite technique to everything.

Does everyone forget how easily Butterbean knocked the stuffing out of Bart Gunn a few years back? And it’s not like Butterbean was a fatter Muhammed Ali, either. But he was trained fighter. Gunn was not. Before you knew it? Mr. Right of Butterbean met Mr. Chin of Gunn - and it was bye-bye Bart.

Wight would do far better going into the MMA world, in Mr. Mal’s opinion, where even a stiff like the former Giant Silva has made a modest mark for himself. Stay clear of any legitimate boxing, Show. The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Mr. Mal says Wight will be no exception. Book it.
