TNA Impact Review: Silent Night, Bloody Night
Its TNA’s Christmas edition of Impact and what a show it was. Let The Eagle tell you all about it.…The Six Sides of Steel was decorated with Christmas lights as LAX , Scott Steiner and Booker T took on Robert Roode, Lance Hoyt, Jimmy Rave and James Storm. Not a bad match to start off the night. After a brawl in the ring Booker T got the pin for his team.….Team 3D’s battle with the X Division is far from over. This week they tried to humiliate The Motor Machineguns and Jay Lethal but it backfired in their faces. The Guns and Lethal decided not to wait to start the Double North Pole Match. On each pole is a different gimmick match and the match is won when one team grabs one of the matches. The gimmick match that is chosen will take place at Final Resolution. Jay Lethal and The Machineguns pulled off an impressive victory by grabbing the Ultimate X Match stocking….What would Christmas be without a Santa’s Workshop Knockout Streetfight with all the TNA Knockouts. Before the match even started TNA Women’s Champion Gail Kim came to the ring and attacked Awesome Kong. Awesome Kong would get the last laugh by pinning Christie Hemme for the win. Her celebration was cut short when Gail Kim came back to the ring with a chair Security had to break these two up once again.
In true TNA style there was a Silent Night, Bloody Night Match between Abyss, Shark Boy, Rellik, and Black Reign. The Eagle has no idea why Shark Boy was put into this match but this is TNA. for the second week Judas Mesia interfered in Abyss’s match. Just like last week he left the monster laying after slamming his head into the tacs
that were laid out. The main event was the Reindeer Ladder Match between AJ Styles and Kaz…. The loser has to wear a reindeer suit. This was a good match between these two. They are both talented and when given the chance they can be very impressive. The Eagle is still wishing TNA would tone down the comedy with AJ Styles. Maybe this split with Christian and a possible split with TNA Champion Kurt Angle will make this happen. Just like the Thanksgiving special Styles lost the match and had to wear the reindeer suit. Angle did help Styles lose by distracting him…..Eric Young’s Christmas party got crashed by Samoa Joe but Santa Claus showed up anyways. Good old Saint Nick got more than he bargained for when he stepped into the ring with TNA Champion Kurt Angle. Angle attacked both Santa and Eric Young. Christian Cage made the save… no folks that’s not a typo… Cage came to the ring and applied the ankle lock on Kurt Angle. Angle was able to escape but he wont be able to do that come Final Resolution.
Results for Dec 20th
Booker T/Scott Steiner/ LAX def Robert Roode/Lance Hoyt/Jimmy Rave/James Storm
Jay Lethal/MotorCity Machineguns def Team 3D/Johnny Devine by grabbing the Ultimate X Match
Awesome Kong won the Santas Workshop Knockout Streetfight
Rellick def Abyss/Shark Boy/Black Reign in a Silent Night, Bloody Night
Kaz def AJ Styles in a Reindeer Ladder Match
The Eagle’s Grade C+
It was an average show. Considering it was a Christmas special it wasn’t that bad. They are pushing Matt Morgan …. The Eagle thinks he will take over Jim Cornette’s job at some point. The Samoa Joe storyline is interesting because it can be real life. I am wondering if this is going to be a turn for him but I don’t think it will work. The fans love him to much.
The Catch and Release matches
Catch…. AJ Styles vs Kaz. Both these men are great in the ring. The Eagle would like to see these guys go at it again real soon.
Release…. Rellick vs Abyss vs Black Reign vs Shark Boy. This wasn’t a terrible match but it made no sense throwing Shark Boy into this mix. He has no storyline with these guys and he was just meat for the monsters of TNA.
