WWE Raw Review: Jericho’s first match, Flairs retiring?

COPYRIGHT WrestlersRamblings.com Eagle’s Catch or ReleaseMonday Night Raw comes from Charlotte North Carolina this week and boy was it a show. So sit back and relax… The Eagle will take it from here. This is your WWE Raw Review.

The night started off with Jeff Hardy and Triple H taken on Snitsky and Umaga. Fairly decent match considering the outcome was predictable. The Eagle has no idea why Vince McMahon is pushing Snitsky. He has no moves and the fans really don’t care about him. The Game and Hardy made the match interesting. Their victory was cut short as General Manager William Regal came out to announce that at Armageddon it will be Jeff Hardy vs Triple H…..

Ric Flair and David RobinsonRic Flair then came to the ring with a look on his face that even scared The Eagle. He started talking about how his career can’t go on forever and then he said it was time to announce “I will NEVER retire!!!” The crowd went crazy. He said he will retire when he is ready and not a moment sooner. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon came down and informed The Nature Boy that he will retire the next time he loses. Then the WWE Champion Randy Orton comes down and thanks Ric Flair for letting him end his career tonight…..Some matches just make no sense. For example: Cody Rhodes, Hardcore Holly, Super Crazy and Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs The Highlanders and the WWE tag champions Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. Just makes no sense. The Eagle could see Rhodes and Holly taken on the champs or even The Highlanders but where does Super Crazy and Duggan fit in? As expected the good guys get the win.….Ken Kennedy cut a promo about Shawn Michaels. He trashed his CD set and promised to beat HBK at Armageddon. Interestingly Shawn Michaels only appeared once and that was to give Flair a pep talk about his match against Orton.
…..Chris Jericho came out and challenged the WWE champion Randy Orton to a match at Armageddon for the title. He wanted the answer now but instead of Orton…. Santino Marella came out. There was a humorous exchange between the two before Jericho challenged Marella to a match right then and there. Marella agreed but said he needed a moment and then he attacked Jerry “The King” Lawyer at ringside. Finally Chris Jericho and Santino Marella went at and after Jericho debuted his new move “The Code Breaker”. It’s basically a front face back cracker. After the match he invited Jerry Lawyer in to give Marella a beat down…..Another match that makes no sense… Ken Kennedy vs Brian Kendrick. Kennedy squashed the former tag team champ. The Eagle wonders why Kendrick is in a singles match anyways. I’m guessing he rubbed someone backstage the wrong way…..Again this week there is another idiotic Hornswoggle segment. This time he gets trapped with Carlito in a room. He can’t run so he paints a door on the wall and runs through it. Carlito then tries and nearly knocks himself out. This is the WWE…. Not the cartoon channel…..Former WWE Womens champion Mickie James earned a shot at the title by defeating another former champ Melina. Mickie James will face current champion Beth Phoenix at Armageddon……The moment of truth is here. Before Ric Flair comes out many of the WWE superstars give him a standing ovation backstage and Triple H gives him a hug. This was the match of the night. Yeah, we knew Flair was going to win but both men still put on a great show. The Nature Boy even put his figure four on Orton and for a moment I thought the champ would tap. After getting out of that Randy Orton went for the RKO but Jericho showed up out of no where… distracting the champ. This let Flair hit a low blow and a roll up. He even grabbed the tights in true Flair fashion.

The Eagles Grade B
We are getting there. Some of the booking threw me off. Kennedy vs Kendrick and the 6 man tag. Jericho’s first match and the Jeff Hardy vs Triple H set up made the show worth it.

Catch and Release matches of the night

Catch…. Ric Flair vs Randy Orton. It was nice to see the old school Flair back.

ReleaseKen Kennedy vs Brian Kendrick. The match was to quick. Kendrick has talent and could have taken Kennedy to the limit. Once again The Eagle wonders who he rubbed the wrong way backstage.

That was Monday Night Raw folks. I’m The Eagle and I’m out of here!!!
