WWE SmackDown Review:MVP vs Flair; No Way Out News
Hey folks its Saturday and you know what that means? Its time for The Eagle to throw you my SmackDown thoughts.…..Teddy Long announced the SmackDown Elimination Chamber for No Way Out. Now The Eagle is looking for The Undertaker to win that and go on to WrestleMania to face the Worlds Champion Edge. I am actually looking forward to seeing two Chamber matches in one night. Not a bad way to determine the number 1 contender……I am still in disagreement with the Chuck Palumbo/Jamie Noble/Michelle McCool storyline. I just feel that the mistreatment of women is a inappropriate storyline for these times. Jamie Noble is talented enough to be doing other things. The Eagle doesn’t know why he is stuck in a deadend storyline with Palumbo.
WWE decided to give Mr. Kennedy an advantage heading into No Way Out when he faces The Nature Boy Ric Flair. MVP got his rematch against Flair and another
chance to end his career but was DQ for not letting go of a hold. After that he gave Flair a major beat down focusing on his leg.…..Rey Mysterio and CM Punk are fun to watch together. These two men are extremely talented and they proved that by beating ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero and Worlds Champion Edge in a tag team match. It would be interesting to see Punk and Mysterio face each other in a match……Rumor has it that the Finley/Vince McMahon/Hornswoggle storyline will come to a boil at WrestleMania with a possible match between McMahon and Finley. This is becoming a little better of a storyline lately. I still think its needs to come to a head soon and hopefully now it will. This week Finley and Hornswoggle took on Duece and Domino in a very quick match. I still don’t get why Deuce and Domino have become jobbers. They were once WWE Tag Team Champs and now they are jobbers……Looks like The EdgeHeads, Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder are getting a push without being up Edge’s rear end. This week they defeated Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore. The former Major Brothers didn’t look that bad. I had said this since they came on seen… if they are given the chance Hawkins and Ryder can be a a decent tag team on SmackDown.…..The Brothers of Destruction, Kane and The Undertaker reunited this week to take on Big Daddy V and Mark Henry. I have always been impressed with The Brothers of Destruction. They are so dominate in their matches and they make it believable. The Undertaker used the same wicked move her used last week again Big V but this time on Henry. They haven’t come up with a name for it yet…. the only I can explain it is a reverse Triangle Choke… at least a version of it. Whatever you call it…. it left Henry bleeding from the mouth and got The Brothers a win.
In case you missed it… here is the results from Friday Night SmackDown:
Ric Flair def. United States Champion MVP (Career Threatening Match, Non-title, Disqualification)
Rey Mysterio & CM Punk def. World Heavyweight Champion Edge & ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero
Finlay & Hornswoggle def. Deuce & Domino
Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder def. Jimmy Wang Yang & Shannon Moore
Undertaker & Kane def. Big Daddy V & Mark Henry
The Eagles Grade A-
It was a good show. There were some solid matches this week with Flair vs MVP, Mysterio and Punk vs Edge and Chavo and the Brothers of Destruction in action. SmackDown continues to become a fairly solid show. Now if they would just bring back the Cruiserweight Title… then The Eagle would be happy.
